About the concept
Welcome to "Wish You Were Here," a special series born from a poignant moment of reflection and connection. This collection was inspired by a conversation with my mother during her time in intensive care, where we found solace in the view of the sea from her hospital bed. The colours, the light, and the serene beauty of the ocean provided a moment of peace that stayed with me.
Though my mother has since passed, the memory of that conversation and her love for the sea spurred me to create this series. "Wish You Were Here" is a tribute to the joy and calm that the ocean brought to her and a celebration of places that hold significant emotional connections.
"Wish You Were Here" began as a means of coping with grief but has evolved into a celebration of life and happiness.
Techniques used
Each piece in this series is unique, combining techniques such as mono printing, transfer relief, and hand painting. Sea sponges were used to deepen the connection to the sea, and diamond dust was added to mimic the way light dances on the water. With approximately 20 colours and a mix of methods, every print is an original in its own right.
